The inspiration for the new Terraform brand identity came from the company firm’s foundations in shaping hardscapes, concrete and landforms.
Terraform's business goal was to strengthen and increase its project work in the commercial realm. The new company owners approached Duo Design to conduct a full brand and website review to lift the perception of the business in order to fulfill their business goals. The existing logo featured a digger icon which pigeon-holed Terraform as an earthworks business and presented a tired and out-of-date brand image. We agreed that the new brand image needed to appeal to a design superior market and reflect the premium urban design and commercial projects Terraform have delivered, including Hamilton's riverside Victoria on the Terrace, the Ruakura Superhub and new Cambridge Police Station.
It was important that the brand was flexible enough to be applied to a wide range of media and applications (including machinery, safety equipment, uniforms, signage and fleet vehicles) along with the client’s desire to elevate the company’s visual expression.
The process involved unearthing the many possibilities of this bold brand identity and aesthetic. We identified their brand attributes as ground-breaking, progressive and optimistic. The result is a sound brand platform to launch the new Terraform business brand and expand and evolve over time.
